The most popular sports for Estonians over the past 100 years have been endurance sports such as track and field, and winter sports. Estonians are a nordic people with strong builds who are known for their stamina and resolve. This is precisely why Estonians have received at least one gold medal at almost every Olympic Games.

Estonian athletes today play in different arenas. Anett Kontaveit, Estonian young hope in tennis, is already among the WTA TOP 30 players. Kelly Sildaru is the world’s youngest dual X-Games winner and two-time junior world champion in freestyle skiing. The most famous footballer in Estonia is Ragnar Klavan, who became the highest paid football player from Estonia when he left FC Augsburg to join FC Liverpool

Public sporting events are also very popular in Estonia, and most people regularly play sports. Popular events include cycling, rollerblading, running, and ski marathons. Amateur athletes take part in night races, orienteering, and ice sailing competitions. The biggest public sporting event is the Tartu Marathon, with almost 10,000 skiers participating each year
